Kombes Pol Djoni Widodo, Director of the NTB Regional Police, said that the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement System (ETLE) or electronic ticketing had been introduced in the city of Mataram. This follows the prohibition of fines as stated in the telegram from the Kombes Pol number:
ST/2264/X/HUM.3.4.5./2022 dated 18 October 2022.
However, currently his party is presenting a budget for the addition of ETLE devices at 5 points between NTB.
"By order of the Kakorlantas Kapolsek, Kompol Firman Shantyabodi, the manual fine has been lifted. However, in NTB, the ETLE device is only owned by the NTB Police Dilantas."
So far, dedicated ETLE or CCTV cameras have been installed in NTB at five locations. Among them are the Simpang Empat Bank Indonesia City of Mataram, the Simpang Empat Aston Hotel Mataram, the Simpang Empat Mataram Golkar Office, the Simpang Empat Seruni Satu Mataram and the Seruni Dua.
"The aim is to prioritize preventive action and law enforcement in two ways. The first is electronic ticketing (ETLE) and warning motorists."
Djoni explained, ETLE technology records traffic violations electronically. According to him, electronic tickets or ETLE can guarantee the application of the same law to everyone during the trip.
"ETLE is also installed on patrol vehicles and it automatically detects traffic violations," he added. Djoni added that the ETLE tool can record evidence of driver violations. After that, officers identify vehicle information using electronic registration and identification (ERI). The clerk will then send a confirmation letter to the driver's default address.
"The vehicle owner then confirms via the website or comes to the police office and issues a ticket through the BRI Virtual Account (BRIVA)."
Some of the violations monitored by the ETLE device are running red lights, crossing road markings, not wearing a seat belt, and using a cell phone while driving.
"Apart from that, there are violations of speeding, driving against the flow and the absence of a SIM card and STNK,"
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo no longer allows manual violations (tickets) to be witnessed by the traffic police (polantas). The prohibition on the ranks of the Traffic Police Unit (Kolantas) not to manually mark motorists was contained in the telegram number ST/2264/X/HUM.3.4.5./2022 which was sent on October 18, 2022.
The telegram was signed by Kapolsek Kakorlantas Firman Shantyabodi on behalf of the Chief of Police. Residents are asked to maximize electronic tickets (ETLE) both stationary and mobile.
"Traffic Violation Enforcement does not use manual tickets. Only through the use of ETLE, both static and mobile, and warning of traffic violations."
