Oven is a tool used to bake food. In general, the oven is used to make cakes, pies, bread and other types of cakes. There are many types of ovens that are commonly used.
The type of oven can be adjusted according to the type of cake to be baked. Chef Yongki Gunawan said via his YouTube channel (3/10/23) that there are four types of ovens that are most commonly used only in Indonesia. Here are 4 types of ovens that are commonly used to bake cakes:
1. Traditional oven
This traditional oven is the most commonly used oven in homes. Electric or gas can be used for grilling. Chef Yongki Gunawan said the temperature of this oven can be adjusted.
To use it, the top flame must not be lit. Then the cake pan should be in the center. Chef Yongki advises not to turn it on high heat so that the cake doesn't burn quickly.
2. Close the oven
The oven lid is very large. The oven is thick and sealed, so it doesn't feel hot when it hits the front of the oven. Using this type of oven requires top and bottom heat.
Chef Yongki said the temperature difference between the top and bottom fire is around 10 degrees. This type of oven is also known as a universal oven because it can bake many types of cakes.
“It can be used for pastries, large and thick cakes, even puff pastry. Lapis actually cannot be made, so there is a special oven,” he said. This type of stove uses a small amount of electricity to produce light. However, the roasting process still uses gas.
3. Convection oven
Unlike other ovens, convection ovens use a fan or wind to bake. Because this type of oven uses electricity with a high enough power
Baking with a hot air gun removes the water content of the cake, causing the texture of the cake to become dry. This type of oven is suitable for preparing eclairs, pastries, puff pastry and baguettes.
4. Lapis Legit Special Oven
Chef Yongki Gunawan said, the special Indonesian special lapis legit oven. As the name suggests, this type of oven is specifically for making lapis legit cakes which are popular in Indonesia.
This type of oven uses top fire. So it can be used by coating the dough on a baking sheet. "Well, an oven like this uses gas when roasting it," said chef Yongki Gunawan.
